Community, not competition.

Where the experiences we create are just as important as the coffee we make

Lucky's opened in June of 2019 in the heart of Downtown Upland, and the idea was simple: good coffee for the neighbourhood, made by people who are glad you came in. That first shop has since closed, and everything now happens under one roof at the roastery on East Foothill in Claremont — same people, same idea, and you can watch the roaster run while you wait.

Tyler Smith spent years at the Specialty Coffee Association and with coffee manufacturers like Wilbur Curtis, and helped start the SCA's Roaster's Guild and Technician's Guild. He knows exactly how deep this trade can go — which is precisely why nobody here will ever make you feel silly for ordering a vanilla latte.

The name comes from his Irish heritage and from growing up adopted. Lucky, in the truest sense of the word — and a reminder that most of what any of us have came from somebody else showing up.

Everyone gets a good cup

Order the pour over or order the mocha. Both get the same care and neither gets a lecture.

We know your name

Regulars, first-timers, the kid who wants a babyccino. This is a room, not a transaction.

Bring the dog

Patio is theirs too. We have bandanas in two sizes and a jar of treats behind the counter.

We root for the other shops

A better coffee scene lifts everyone in it. We will happily send you down the road.

Recognition
